Under Carroll, the Seahawks became one of the most dominant defensive teams of the modern NFL era.
Seattle led the league in scoring defense for four consecutive seasons from 2012 through 2015 — something no other team had accomplished in the Super Bowl era.
But the defining moment came during the 2013 season.
Seattle finished 13-3, powered through the NFC playoffs and reached Super Bowl XLVIII against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos.
What happened next became Seahawks history.
Seattle dominated Denver 43-8, delivering the franchise its first Super Bowl championship.
For Seahawks fans, that night changed everything.
The confetti.
The Lombardi Trophy.
The celebrations throughout Seattle.
A generation of fans finally experienced what it felt like to stand at the top of the NFL.
And Pete Carroll was right in the middle of it.
During his remarkable 14 seasons as Seattle’s head coach, Carroll led the Seahawks to 10 playoff appearances, five NFC West titles, two NFC championships and back-to-back Super Bowl appearances.
But perhaps Carroll’s greatest contribution wasn’t found in any trophy case.

Carroll later returned to NFL coaching with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2025, but that chapter lasted only one season, ending after a 3-14 campaign.
Perhaps now there could be another kind of chapter.
Not another rebuilding project.
