SEATTLE — The stage is officially set for one of the most intriguing interconference battles of Week 4.
The Seattle Seahawks will welcome the Los Angeles Chargers to Lumen Field on Sunday, October 4, 2026, with kickoff scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET / 1:25 p.m. PT on CBS, placing the matchup in the NFL’s featured late-afternoon broadcast window.
For Seattle, this is an opportunity to immediately respond after suffering its first defeat of the season.
For Los Angeles, the stakes are even more urgent.
The Chargers arrive in Seattle still searching for their first victory, setting up a fascinating clash between a Seahawks team attempting to reestablish its momentum and a desperate Los Angeles squad trying to prevent its difficult opening month from becoming even more damaging.
Seattle enters Week 4 at 2–1, while the Chargers come in at 0–3.
And Lumen Field provides the perfect backdrop.
Seattle returns home after a disappointing road defeat against Washington, meaning the Seahawks will be looking for an immediate response in front of one of the loudest crowds in professional football.
The defending Super Bowl champions know expectations are enormous.
One defeat does not define a season, but how a championship-caliber team responds to adversity can reveal plenty about where it is headed.
That makes Sunday important.
Seattle’s offense will once again look toward superstar receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who has opened the season in spectacular fashion. According to the Seahawks, Smith-Njigba enters Week 4 leading the NFL in both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
His matchup against the Chargers secondary could become one of the defining battles of the afternoon.
Los Angeles, however, arrives with a superstar quarterback of its own.
Justin Herbert remains capable of changing a game with one throw, and despite the Chargers’ winless beginning, Seattle cannot afford to treat Los Angeles like an ordinary 0–3 opponent.
Herbert’s arm strength, mobility and ability to create explosive plays mean the Seahawks defense will need to remain disciplined from the opening possession until the final whistle.
There is also plenty of history between these former division rivals.
Sunday will mark the 53rd regular-season meeting between Seattle and Los Angeles, with the Seahawks holding a narrow 27–25 advantage in the all-time series.
The Chargers have won two of the previous three meetings, and this will be their first trip to Seattle since 2018.
That history creates another layer of intrigue.
Seattle wants to protect home field.
Los Angeles desperately needs a victory.
And both teams possess enough talent to turn this matchup into one of the most entertaining games of Week 4.
The coaching storylines are fascinating as well.
Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald will attempt to get his defense back on track against a Chargers team led by Jim Harbaugh, creating another high-level tactical battle between two coaching staffs familiar with pressure-filled football.
But once kickoff arrives, strategy will only be part of the equation.
The noise inside Lumen Field could become a major factor.
Seattle supporters understand the importance of protecting home field
